NinjaVideo Virus Update

It seems as though NinjaVideo is once again handing out viruses to its users, but this time it seems to be done through their advertisers.

This is from a comment left by Chuck.

I believe the viruses come through ninjas ad network. I got a virus from them a few weeks back and stopped using then, returned maybe a week ago to watch something. Stupid yes... So now I just got hit again and after 30 mins have removed the trojans. Ninjavideo staff are basically being cocksmokers about it, just found this very recent link... http://forum.ninjavideo.net/index.php?topic=38871.125 basically theyre stating they don't give a fuck that their users are getting infected. Well fuck them, only thing ninjavideo has going for it is convenience.

User are seeking help from the admins, but as seen in this screenshot, they don't want to really help, they even threaten to ban users for 'complaining' about the virus.

  1. That's why its best to leech them and not donate a penny. And I have so many ad filters I never see a single ad.

  2. Hello, we too were tired of ninjavideo. So we decided to create http://www.videocluster.net

We are similar to ninja (except for being full of ourselves and horrible site design.)

Enter videocluster.net free high quality divx movies, tv-shows, cartoons, and anime.

No capacha to fill or disorganized ugly looking site.

We are a much sexier and better functioning site than ninjavideo and we hope to put them out of business soon.

Check us out and post responses here, I would also like to see the admin of this site check out our site and give feedback.

  3. I've figured out some inside info on ninjavideo.net that I was hoping you would like to post about.

It relates to where they store all their videos and how to watch them without using the player on their site. Also explains why they have the captcha and why the code doesn't display sometimes.

I reverse engineered their site and java applet because I was getting fed up with all the stupid errors and if I post this on their forum, they just delete it and ban my user til I make a new one.

PLEASE contact me if you are interested.

  4. I for one have never gotten a virus there. It's probably because the idiot was using IE. Second, if you're gonna take screenshots and posts screenshots supporting your argument, then you should post the entire convo. Yes I know you have a link but, generally speaking of course, people aren't going to click the link and sift through all of that. All they are going to do is look at the picture and read the quotes, not even shown in the right context.

I really don't see why you would bitch about Ninja. Yeah their admin aren't the friendliest, but who cares? Go their for the television and films, not the community. It's free for God's sake and you want to bitch about it. How pathetic.

  5. @ unkleely their not idoits for using IE it's got nothing to do with IE. I just happen to get a virus while watching a show and I use Firefox. So stop sucking the admins cocks and praising them just because your a lucky person who hasnt gotten a virus yet. Many ppl i know have gotten viruses from ninja video and have stopped using this crappy site, including myself. They don't care about their viewers when they need to or someone can report them to the authorities since this site is highly illegal. Along with the fact that they should care if ppl are getting viruses from their site because who wants to go to a site even if it is free when they know theres a huge chance of getting a virus. It's common sense, which the admin of ninja video don't have. I really do hope this site gets taken down and the authorities come in and arrest the admins so they can't make any other crap sites such as this one. Horrible site and I will never use it again along with boycotting it to everyone I know that watches anything online.

  6. Unkleely: they're trying to get financial support in the way of donations from users. So if they treat us like shit, they get nothing. I'll donate the The Pirate Bay because they have a great site and aren't asses on the suprbay forums. Ask whatever you want. You'll have to try hard to get banned there.

Ninja leeches off other sites anyway, so everything they have you can get places like tpb. I use ninja as my tv guide to see what I want to download on tpb. Or I go to eztv and find it there.

As for how to not use their player, one method is to let the video fully load, then close the page. Go to your temp divx folder and rename the temp file to mpeg or avi or divx and it will become permanent and you can play it with whatever you want.

Oh, and ninja failed to register the .us and ,mobi domains. I have them now :) So they can kiss my ass for being dicks all the time.

  7. I was using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox 3.6 in Windows Vista secured by Eset Smart security. However Ninjavideo's Java applet needs to be enabled in order to watch the video and those bastards/bitches at NV pump viruses (mainly trojans) through that same pipe, they know it and don't care.

I was able to remove the malware with Malwarebytes' software. However it couldn't recover some hacked system files (modified explorer.exe) which even windows restore couldn't recover either so I had to do a full system restore. Luckily I had a full backup from April 2010.

Bottomline: As soon as you enable the Ninjavideo JAVA APPLET the trojans get full access to your computer (regardless of your security software since you had to enable the applet in order to watch the video in the first place, for example make an quarantine exception or click allow on firewall popup) Most of those trojans fill your PC with all sorts of malware and offer you to buy their bogus 'anti-malware'-software to get rid of them.

BTW, Ninjavideo.net is now officially on the blacklist of Malwarebytes' software so if you try to access the site with Malwarebytes' web-protection on, it will block the site. :)

  8. First off, I think the Ninjavideo site itself is an extremely well organized product. However, because of their relationship with these adservers, I will no longer be using it.

Usually it's just the fake antivirus attack. However, last night it was different. I was getting, attacked by the infostealer snifula.b virus with an IP that was traced to freaking Russia.

Took me well over 3 hours to contain the threat.

  9. A good friend of mine got infeceted over ninjavideo and I tried to find a solution to use their service savely because the video contend is still awsome.
I finaly found ,what I think is a save way to watch the vid´s and not get infected by their "additonal content".

I have installed sandboxie(www.sandboxie.com) and now I am running my browser and the applet in a sandbox so even one of their virus try to infected my system it stay´s in the box an couldn´t acess my real system.

Sandboxie extends the operating system with sandboxing capabilities by blending into it. Applications can never access hardware such as disk storage directly, they have to ask the OS to do it for them. Since Sandboxie integrates into the OS, it can do what it does without risk of being circumvented.

Think of your PC as a piece of paper. Every program you run writes on the paper. When you run your browser, it writes on the paper about every site you visited. And any malware you come across will usually try to write itself into the paper.

Traditional privacy and anti-malware software try to locate and erase any writings they think you wouldn't want on the paper. Most of the times they get it right. But first the makers of these solutions must teach the solution what to look for on the paper, and also how to erase it safely.

On the other hand, the Sandboxie sandbox works like a transparency layer placed over the paper. Programs write on the transparency layer and to them it looks like the real paper. When you delete the sandbox, it's like removing the transparency layer, the unchanged, real paper is revealed.

There is also a way to get the videofiles out of the sandbox and store them on your real system: When you save files (downloads, documents, emails, or anything else) through a sandboxed program, these files go into the transparency layer that is the sandbox.

You can use QuickRecovery to get these files out. Unless configured otherwise, QuickRecovery looks in your My Documents folder, and Desktop folder. If you save the files to either of these folders, then you can use QuickRecovery to easily get them out.

Hope my post was usefull for someone.

    Have a nice day ;)
